An interest in the concept of an OPEX -reducing, integrated hybrid power solution has been on the increase of recent. The principle, in a nutshell, is to reduce the running hours of the backup generator without compromising the required power supply needed to operate the BTS equipment. This is done by the co-operative functioning of the generator with the battery bank. Considerable benefits of the hybrid solution are: reduced generator fuel consumption, less frequent refuelling on sites, extension in frequencies of generator service intervals, greater output efficiencies of the generator and also expensive components are housed within a robust 4mm thickness structure, with a heavy duty 3 – way locking mechanism and opened with a unique key which is not easily obtainable.
