It is common for the fibres in timber to weaken over time due to constant weathering or expansion and contraction during the treating process. This continuous weakening eventually causes the timber to split. Anti-split plates are used to prevent hardwood timber poles and logs from splitting. Unilam’s anti-split plate range include round, square and rectangular plates which can be manufactured according to specific size requirements and labelled for easy identification.
