The carrot takes 70 to 120 days to mature. A seed rate of 2 to 3.5 kg/ha for direct seeding is recommended for carrots, depending on variety. A yield range of 25 to 50 t/ha can be expected. Diseases common in carrot include leaf spot, powdery mildew and rusts. Carrots are extremely high in beta carotene content and have many health benefits.
