Trident South Africa has a long standing history and was founded in 1969 under the name Trident Engineering by Roger Calvert, John Curnick and Richard Curnick. Colin Willliams joined in 1984 to head up the spare parts pision and in 1995 Mike Calvert and Tommy Webster joined to start Tridents international sales pision. Rob Steel followed in 1997 as technical director.
