The Steenkamp family started breeding Brahmans in 1984 on the farm Schanhauzen in the Polokwane district. The prefix registered was “Mardre†and the herd letters “ADEâ€. We currently live on the farm Rietfontein, just outside Potchefstroom. new prefix “Admiral†with herd letters “LL†was registered in 2001. The stud is owned by our family trust the Schanhauzen Trust. We believe in the breeding of thick, muscular and structurally correct red American Brahmans without any Gyr or Manso influences and as close as possible to the original Cherokee, McKellar and HK cattle.
